ABOUT

The KEYT news film collection (FMST Mss 7) consists of approximately 30-years of daily news footage shot on 16mm motion picture film by Santa Barbara’s local television station KEYT (channel 3) from the mid-1960s-1980 when the station began transitioning to ¾” U-Matic videotape. This digital collection contains a portion of materials from the collection which were recently digitized.

LOCATING MATERIAL

The KEYT news film collection is currently being processed by UCSB Library Special Research Collections and inventories are available for only a small portion of the collection. The Library cannot currently accommodate research requests for this collection. If you have any questions about the collection or how you can gain access to materials in the future, please contact the Film & Television Curator.

OBTAINING COPIES

Materials that have already been digitized are most easily viewed within this digital collection platform. Digital access copies or "screeners" to be used for educational use and research may be requested through your Special Collections Research Account. Requests for preservation copies for publication or other commercial use must be requested through your Special Collections Research Account. UCSB Library does not own copyright to this material nor does it license or provide permission to publish content from the collection. All requests to license footage must be sent to KEYT's General Manager and approval provided prior to receiving preservation copies. Because the collection is still being processed, we are unable to accommodate requests for digitization. For more information on this collection or questions about digitization, please contact the Film & Television Curator.
